CQ-20B channels 9-14 TRS connections

Hello all,
Am I doing something wrong? The manual says these inputs are balanced XLR and TRS. I have inserted a XLR to TRS cable into these inputs and It doesnt seem to like the signal in the TRS connector. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance

Inputs 9-16 take either an XLR input OR a TRS input. There is no requirement for a TRS to XLR cable (if this is what you are doing)…

The XLR socket can have phantom power - so is not suitable for a TRS connection. The TRS socket has a -20 dB pad.

Can you explain EXACTLY how you are using input (say) 9 with a source?

Dave

I needed to add a microphone channel but I’ve run out of XLRm to XLRf cables.
I had a TRSm to XLRf cable. I looked in the manual and it says these inputs are balanced for both XLR and TRS connections. My cable is constructed as per the pinouts mentioned in the manual.
I was expecting the inputs to treat the TRS as a balanced input but it does not.
Either I am missing something or the manual is not accurate.

The TRS on the combi sockets is balanced, but you won’t get 48V phantom through it and it has a -20dB pad like Daver2 said.

What about your signal isn’t it liking?

I was not expecting the -20 dB. I see that in the manual now.
