Hello, Allen & Heath team! I’ve been a longtime fan of your brand and was planning to purchase the CQ-20B. I really like the design of the series, the ease of use of the software, and the CQMixPad interface. One issue was critical for me when choosing a mixer, which is why I postponed purchasing the CQ. Currently, the CQ series does not have a selectable signal point for the monitor mixes after the preamp.

This is an extremely important feature: the monitor mix should be completely independent of the FOH mix. Without a selectable signal point immediately after the preamp, any changes to the gain or processing of the main mix affect what the musicians hear. This creates a huge inconvenience during live performances. Please consider adding the following features in future firmware updates: post-preamp selector points for monitor lines; the ability to disconnect a channel from the master bus (Master Assign Off); if you add the ability to create channel groups (not DCA) and Side Chain, this will be a fantastic device! These features will transform the CQ-20B into a fully-fledged professional live performance tool. I look forward to hearing from you!

There haven’t been any firmware updates for the cq20b for almost a year now. I really hope that the announcement of the new SQ+ AH will delight CQ users with new, much-needed features.

I came here to request the option to pick off monitor sends post-preamp. Among other obvious scenarios, I’m regularly working in loud rooms with live drums, some difficult instruments (banjo+nylon string gtr), and questionable vocal mic technique. I tweak out the stage monitors, get the band happy. Audience fills room, show starts. I tweak like a madman to make the mains sing. Inevitably I have to adjust EQ, the banjo feeds back. Or the vocals can’t be heard out front without radical EQ changes, which destroys the monitor mix. Weirdly I don’t recall working on any boards that forced monitor sends to be post-EQ? In any case this signal flow is essentially crippling to an otherwise extremely well-designed, functional mixer. Please A&H, do add option for post-preamp for monitor sends!
