Hello.. Have had a CQ-20B for a few months now, and came from QSC TouchMix 30 and TouchMix 8.
With those consoles, I could have a channel / AUX / FX assigned to more than 1 mute group at the same time. I used it this way:
- Mute Group “Break” - This mutes absolutely everything except the Bluetooth channel.. used when the band takes a break, playing tunes from a phone/iPad
- Mute Group “NoFX” - This mutes the effects, used between songs when talking to the audience
- Mute Group “Announcements” - Everything muted except 1 microphone - This is so that announcements can be made during a break, when everything else is muted.
During a break (BREAK mute group enabled), if someone wanted to make an announcement, I would enable the “Announcements” mute group, and disable “Break”. When the announcements are over, I simply reverse the process.
What this means is that channels / FX / AUX outs, etc) could be in more than one mute group at the same time.. A feature not available on the CQ series.
I do realize that a down side of this may lead to confusion in that if you turn off a mute group, a channel in that mute group could still be muted (because it’s in another mute group that is muted) The TouchMix series used different colors (like amber instead of red) to indicate that a channel is muted via more than one mute group.
Thanks for your consideration.
