This mixer is lonely. No new features or firmware or bug fix I a very long time.
You would have been a very unhappy man in the days of hardware mixers. In those days the mixer you bought was the mixer you used.

The comment about analogue mixers is a fair one and of course the CQ already features many things that were not on mid range analogue consoles.
We are now conditioned to expect frequent updates to digital equipment and the feature request section of this website fuels the desires for updates. That being said, it is now 18 months or so since the last major update and even when v1.3 comes there will be many disappointed that their request was not included.
So my message to A&H is Digitus Extractus, to everyone else. It is what it is. What it might become may be delayed until the day after Armageddon.

Itās never a great idea to buy a product for what you hope it might become. Buy it for what it is, and anything else is gravy. Admittedly a few bug fixes wouldnāt go amiss, but it has been an incredibly useful product as-is.

What ābug fixesā are required? I havenāt run into anything thatās affected my usage in over a year.
I agree there are a few minor issues that could be tidied up relatively easily, like soft key labels, clearer metering, etc.
But the majority of feature requests Iāve seen are utterly unrealistic ā technically, practically, and commercially!
The company offer a whole hierarchy of products intentionally designed with different capability levels. The CQ range is incredibly well specified for its priceā¦ so if you want/need more features buy a more sophisticated model! Thereās no way any manufacturer is going to put all the bells and whistles into its entry-level products. Get real!

There are lots of bug fixes required. For example: I canāt edit the config of the extra input channels from the USB interface on the CQ itself, I need to open the CQ app on my phone to set the name, color, trim, polarity, etc.
This is only one example.

Hmm, ābuy for what it isā would have been quite disappointing because that original software (firmware) was not on the same level as the hardware regarding quality. There are almost no hardware bugs (at least I havenāt discovered one, some had problems with the ac adapter, it seems). Software is different from hardware: it is not confined to the device but interacting with ever changing OS developments. Remember, the current firmware restricts the characters to be used in naming channels, not because of cq18t, but because the software engineers didnāt manage compatibility with android and ios otherwise. Most other companies were more successful here, and it again points to a ridiculously underfinanced project team in the cq series: there seems to be no serious investments in the live span software support of the cq products they sold to us. I cannot accept the arguments in defense, they are constructed around the wrong assumption that the firmware of the cq series is on par with the device hardware and corresponding to what customers await when investing in a brand like A&H.
Yes, it is absolutely time for firmware update, it is necessary to get into a more appropriate communication about those with the customers and no, itās not about implementing any suggestion here in the forum but instead fixing what needs to be fixed.
I guess the forum is named wrongly. would they have called it āyour next product from a&hās featuresā, expectations might have been more appropriate. But even then, no software support at all does not qualify for selling digital mixers, even if the hardware is excellent, in my opinion.

In the digital world (welcome to the 21st century) the quality of a product highly depends on the further development of an App und its maintenance regarding changes on the devices the app is running on (especially operating system changes).
I just had a look on the A&H resources page. The text āPlease note that we have not yet verified full and correct operation of this product with macOS 26ā has been replaced with āmacOS 27ā.
In addition, when I look at the release date of the latest MixPad App update I get the impression that A&H has simply stopped all further development, maintenance and testing of the MixPad App.
Very disappointing.
The mixpad app is pretty poor, but you can get almost full operation from Mixing Station. I have a CQ20 and CQ18, and the hardware is great, I wish the software was better.
