I haven’t been able to find this problem addressed. Has anyone had it? I recorded three sets yesterday onto an SD card. I imported all tracks from SET 1 into Grageband. It recorded perfectly for 3 songs. Right in the middle of the 4th song, the tracks ALL suddenly turned to static, for the rest of set and were useless.
Then all tracks in both the 2nd and 3rd sets - 5 in total: 2 guitars, 1 bass, 1 vocal, and a beat buddy drum pedal - appeared on the SD card in my Mac finder window, but when I try to import to garageband, my mac says “file not found” - even though I can see the .wav files on the finder window. I tried it on a PC also, and it won’t open the files in sets 2 and 3. I tried simply opening individual .wav file tracks in those, but didn’t open. Also tried importing into audacity on the PC. I see the files in file manager, but they just don’t import. Somehow corrupted.
Finally, I tried tonight by creating a new session and laying down a vocal track using the same SD card… that worked fine, and I was able to import the new file to Garageband perfectly.
Anyone ever see this? So I completely lost most of the first set, and completely lost all of the 2nd and 3rd sets, even though the full wav file … around 700MB for each track are visible on the card.
I read somewhere that people reformat the SD card every time. I did not do that. I had 6 previous sets still on the SD card, and all still work perfectly. Should I be reformatting the SD card EVERY time I do a new gig?
Sorry so long, but my first problem with this unit, and now I’m really concerned, because we record every practice and gig.
You shouldn’t need to reformat your SD card every time you do a new gig.
Are you able to snip out a bit of the track turning to static and share it here, please?
If it’s sensitive and you can’t share it publicly, please feel free to email it in to us at support@allen-heath.com for my attention and I’ll look into it for you.
Thanks for the quick response. I have used the mixer about 10 or 11 sessions with no problem. Here are some screen shots of what I see. Looks like I can’t upload an .mp3 file in this forum, so I may need to email you that.
A&H recommends people format their SD card every time they want to record something on the SQ series consoles. Based on previous comments on this forum about recording to an SD card with the SQ, reformating each time is basically required to get consistent results.
Thanks. I surely will do this every time I dump the files to the computer from here on out. And I’ll keep a couple spare newly formatted cards in the case and probably change between sets.
That also will help me with the annoying fact that all the files are saved with a Jan 1, 2017 creation date and the session date always say 1969… I still haven’t seen a way to change that. That boggles my mind, why the unit doesn’t simply place todays date when I record them… but that’s for another day! 1st world problems, as they say… I really love the thing otherwise!
Also, thanks Mark. I did try that recovery procedure last night. I actually saw it on Youtube, but no luck. It said no problems were found on my files. I had the same problem trying to load into Audacity on my PC. It’s just so odd that I can see the files on both Mac and PC, but neither can be loaded to the DAW.
