During a live session, the Main (L+R) outputs of my CQ18t suddenly lost signal. After about a minute it came back.
All other outputs including USB kept working. Main faders were at 0 position, no mute was activated.
Does anyone have any clue? Or is the mixer faulty? Is there anything to prevent this from happening again?
Thanks!
I haven’t seen anything along the lines you describe with my unit, but it’s early days.
I don’t suppose you were recording the main outs over USB as well? That would at least tell you whether the mixer didn’t think there should be output during that time. Otherwise I’m not familiar enough with the output design to suggest whether a faulty cable or connection could result in some kind of overcurrent protection when shorting an output – but that’d be at least a possibility.
Two USB channels are linked to outputs 5/6 and are used by a PC for a livestream. These outputs kept working properly.
If it were a faulty cable, I would expect one channel to fail. Both L and R outputs failed, and both recovered at the same time without me touching any cables.
Of course I tried to switch Mute on and off. I also tried changing the faders: down to minimum and back up till 0. It did not make any difference. While I was scratching my head, slightly panicking, suddenly sound was back again.
FoH speakers are two independent active systems. Both of them failing at the same time is not very likely. Also, the power LEDs on the front panels remained lit, so it was definitely not a power failure.
Frustrating, certainly. I hope it’s not something you experience again – and hopefully anyone else who has will chime in here.
