My CQ-20 got rushed offstage at a venue the other night, and the WiFi antenna snapped. It looks like it’s a simple threaded router antenna, but does anyone know if I need to get a specific replacement? Manual doesn’t seem to have any info. thx
I got the antenna today, it is an RP-SMA connector. The one I bought is longer than the existing one and is not ideal but it works and gives a stronger signal than the stock antenna.
I saw a breakdown video somewhere on the forum posts which made reference to this. I recall the comment that it was a straight forward job to replace.
Whether that just means finding something that fits the screw thread or opening the device to tap the connections to an antenna I can’t recall but either option ought to work if repairing.
I know nothing about how/if antennas are powered though you’d need your friendly neighbourhood electrician for that one.
This is the one I bought as a spare. The crucial thing is RP-SMA Male Connector. You can get some with higher gain (longer range) but they tend to be much longer.
I bought a cheap one with the above mentioned connector from Amazon with 12 dBi gain and a 1,5 m cable & magnetic foot so I can place it higher in crowded venues. Works great!
