New to the CQ, just received my 20B last evening. Pretty excited about 96K in a small portable mixer! I sold my Midas MR18, somewhat reluctantly. So what is the deal with no physical power button? AND if one uses the soft power off, how are you expected to power it back on, obviously (at least at this point) to unplug and replug it? Seems like an odd decision to leave a simple on/off switch from its design. I can’t imagine that a little rocker switch would add costs by very much. Pennies at most. I will get by…oh yeah and a surface volume knob for headphones? Again I will get by, just wondering why these things were left out of the design is all.
interested to same question any smart way to power off instead of unplug power cable? Since after soft power off the fan does not stop working.
And re-start with plugging cable? Or reset button?
I would bet that the reason for the “forgotten” power switch is that this mixer is more likely a magic stage box
that is lying around on the stage right between the musicians and therefore should not be accidentally turned off by feet or other moving objects.
So see the saving of a (unprotected) power switch as a positive thing, because it is only for operational safety. )
In the manual they write: “Turn off and disconnect mains power (if required)”.
But I assume that it would only not be required if you never wanted to switch the mixer on again. ))
The main reason for the shutdown functionality is to allow the mixer to finish any read or write activities to USB or SDHC, and to save the state of the mixer. This is to prevent data loss from interrupted writing.
If you’re not reading or writing from the removable storage, you can safely turn the mixer off (and back on again!) at the wall with no ill effects.
Thank you, this is important information.
to be documented in the next release
