Quick question - the Dante 64x64 card - what’s the flow limit?
My assumption is that it’s using the Audinate Dante HC chip (the Brooklyn II chip only supports 32x32 @ 96kHz but the card supports 64x64 @ 96kHz) - in which case it’d be 64 flows (imposed by A&H - not the chip limit, which would be 256x256)?
Thanks for your reply Showtime - but are you saying that the card can support 64 x 64 flows or channels?
I know that the Dante 64x64 Card can support 64 channels - that’s in the spec. What I’m asking is if it can support 64 separate flows (or 32? or 16?) - which determines the number of devices you can send from, rather than the number of channels.
I’m not interested in Dante Virtual Soundcard at the moment, thanks.
Spoke to Allen & Heath for those that are interested:
The Dante 64x64 Card allows 64 channels of audio over 64 separate flows and is based on the Dante HC technology (not chip, my mistake!)
That is, you could send 1 channel of audio from 64 separate devices to the card - although it wouldn’t be terribly efficient (wasting 3/4 of bandwidth as each unicast flow encapsulates 4 channels of audio)
Dante Specs:
Maximum channels per link: 1024 (512x512)
Ethernet data rates: Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet
Maximum sampling rate: 192 kHz
Maximum bit depth: 32 bits
Minimum latency: 150 µs

I just got the Dante card for the SQ and it has 128 flows. That number is what is reported in Dante Controller so I presume it is correct. As you say, that is enough for every channel in the 64x64 config to have its own flow - amazing.
