I have my QUSB connected via USB to a laptop. I currently use the QUSB connected to an AR84 to give it 24 inputs (extending instead of a stage box type setup). The AR84 works fine inside the QU mixer itself, but when I try to access channel 8 on my AR84, for example, (routed to channel 24 internally), my DAW does not see the input. Could I have something configured incorrectly? As I say, it all works fine within the QU and for live shows, no problem using the AR84.
Are you trying to route audio using direct outs or as part of an insert chain on a specific channel?
I think this likely comes down to a routing issue. I am not super familiar with the QU lineup, but with the other A&H consoles I have used, the routing of local analog I/O on the console and the routing of audio from the SLink and other digital sources is separate. You are likely routing local inputs only through to USB and have not actually set up routing the audio traveling through the SLink port.
I have recently experienced a very similar problem with the first bank of 8 inputs on my QU-32. They have strong signals on the QU, but when they get to my usb-b connected DAW (Reaper) there is no signal. ( not quite true - if I slap a 40+ dB volume plugin on some, but not all, of the channels I can get a weak signal). My computer is a Mac Studio and I am using the aggregate audio device function as I have multiple audio interfaces (QU32, QUPac, Focusrite).
I have tested the heck out of the problem (checked all configurations and settings in the QU and the DAW) and have triaged the issue down to the DAW. I believe this because, on the computer (Mac) side, the 8 channels record just fine into a different recording app (e.g. Voice Memo).
I don’t have a fix yet, but curious what DAW software you are using?
It’s fixed. I realized my USB routing was not set properly as the default is channel 17/18 for LR outputs. I remapped from 17-24 and now all is working fine! Thanks for the suggestions.
