I never felt the need for this before, but with Custom Control now available on SQ I see a need for it.
Use case: Multiple stereo channels selected by “radio switches”, with a single DCA controlling the level. Currently you would have to add a meter for each individual channel, so a DCA meter would be very useful.
The loudest signal and clip suggested by Steffen would be perfect here.
That is a very nice solution i guess. it would work a little bit like a layer button which shows if any of the channels on that exact layer is clipping. Will be very useful.
I preffer a lie than nothing … We need to see something on the leds indicators of the DCA channels, either solution you’re proposing is better than no measuring, a LOT better. I don’t understand why are we even discusing this, every other mixing desk has this, even the non pro lines …
using the “out of phase signal” excuse is funny when you don’t even have a proper scale on most of the meters of the desk, we are just “seeing that the leds are moving”, a lot of moving, or tiny moves, that is all we do… stop using excuses for something we shouldn’t even be discussing.
The fact that this topic/request has any tracktion among users while you still can’t temporarily opt out of a DCA mute (like you can on most other consoles) boggles the mind.
