Director Software for Ipad

I would love the option to use the director software directly on an ipad. My laptop and ipad screen are the same size and same processor but the touch functionality on the ipad would lend itself very well to using the director software and now there is no technical limitation to why this can’t work.

I use a fairly inexpensive Windows tablet for this.
The Director offers so many more possibilities than the MixApp, so I’ve been using it that way for years.

As above there are so many limitations to the mix app for the iPads. They either need up the control suctions of the mix app or a second app as full director would be ideal.

A&H should send a dLive and a bag of money to David at dev-core so he can get the Mixing Station app fully featured for dLive. It is currently in beta, but with some assistance that could quickly change.

I like the idea of director as fully featured on pc/mac, and then a great iPad controller like mixing station for actual live mixing.

I use a 13" 2in1 laptop that obviously can be used as a tablet to run Director. It works well, but I also have been using Mixing Station Pro on our Avantis and honestly I like it better. (I used it for years when we had an X32 and it was the one thing I missed when we switched to the Avantis). Plus you have the advantage of the app being available on just about every type of platform. I use an Android tablet for example.

I cannot think of a single function that isn’t available on the Mixing Station app. I actually like using it better for some of the adjustments that Director app forces you to use the “rotary” knob for (gain settings, input number selection, etc). The director software is so sensitive that it is nearly impossible to dial in the right number without minutes of trial and error. With the Mixing Station app I can dial in the number I need much more easily - hitting it on the first attempt nearly every time.

About the only thing I like better on the Director software is dialing in the Dyn8.

Mixing Station for dLive is available now!

I just got the ‘purchase license’ pop-up in the beta before posting, but the app wasn’t updating to include it. I just figured it was a bug…instead it was awesome news!

Hi, can you store scenes/shows via ms? I can’t work out how.

Also where do you flip the phase on mon outs in ms? These are a few if the things I can’t work out.

There are some functions that aren’t available. - You can recall A&H scenes, but not store them for some reason. (There are MS scenes that you can save/recall however). I’ve never needed the phase flip on outputs, but I believe you when you say it’s not available.

I would recommend that you reach out to David of Mixing Station (via the official MS website). He has always been very helpful when I’ve entered requests and bug reports. Sometimes the system works like I want it to and I simply didn’t know how to make it work. Sometimes the current version doesn’t support what I am looking for and several times David was able to add the functionality I was looking for (usually into the next release).

I suspect there is some limitation in the protocols that prevents him from saving A&H scenes (its a big thing to arbitrarily leave out), but maybe he can add the phase functionality pretty easily.

I’ve never really used Mixing Station too much so apologies if I am incorrect, or if the option isn’t there for Avantis like it appears to be for dLive.

If you are in Mixing Station, to flip the polarity on your Mix Outputs, go to the meters option in the top, then click on mixes, then click on the mix you want to phase invert. There is a polarity switch there. Or should be at least.

I wish A&H would make the soft keys available for Mixing Station. The whole point of “wings” was that it was a modular system. Why only limit it to a touch screen/ dual touch screens or a dLive Surface/ IP surfaces??

This is the polarity switch for the external input of the Mix master.

The buses have no phase switch. Only the sockets have it.
But the access to sockets is limited in MS. I’m sure, David will implement it in a later version.

I will say that some of the quirks of the DLive Mixing Station app comes from the fact that it connects to the Mixrack, not a Surface. It’s likely there will always be some limitations due to the fact that it’s not connected to a Surface. I think the ability to save or create scenes falls into this category.

It would be interesting to see if A&H could produce a “mobile” app that connected to the system as a Surface like the Director software does.

Good to know. Thanks for clarifying! :+1:
