dLive C Class

This is looking great.
I was at the TC Furlong (console presentation) manufacturer rep show a few months back, and had a discussionn with the rep for the Dlive which mentioned a “surprise” in January. Not specific.

I have been seeing many manufacturers for certain consoles, offer loyalty upgrade programs for newer version consoles.
As small business owner, the product life cycle of consoles has been challenging.

Has any consideration been given to current owners of iLive, to upgrade to DLive?

My guess would be no.

@eotsskleet, As George says, yes you can mix n match C Class and the flagship S Class, they are fully compatible, they share the same firmware.

Hi Nicola.

Would a C3500 fitted with an expansion slot GigaAce card support redundancy and preamp control from the built in GigaAce A and B ports of an S series DM48?

In a digital split system with a GigaAce card at both ends, FOH and MON, will you offer any kind of gain tracking feature?

No it wouldn't. But it can go in the idea pool for future consideration :)

Not at present, by yes this is something we want to work on.

OK. Does this mean the GigaAce card can only communicate with other GigaAce card, and not the built in ports?

That’s correct.

(edited) One limitation of the I/O Port in the scenario you are suggesting is the 128x128 channel count. The built-in gigaACE connection is over 300x300 to cater for local audio and I/O Ports on the Surface.

Yeah, I can see what you mean. Does the built in GigaAce (300x300) ports support going through switches? With the Waves V3 card I use managed switches at FOH and MON with port trunking to create redundancy. Would this work for the GigaAce A/B ports as well? Nice thing is it can be done with as many cat cables as one would like for increased bandwidth and redundancy

See here for dos and dont’s with regards to gigaACE and switches:

No midi in/out to recall cues/scenes?

MIDI messages are sent over TCP/IP on the Network ports. A free app for OS X called A&H TCP MIDI can be used to present these messages on a virtual MIDI port, for example for use with Qlab or DAWs.

I think to complement my surface with a second surface.
So S3000 and C1500. this gives me more flexibility for a little bigger (and also smaller) jobs.

if I like to connect two surfaces how this is made?

Hi Wolfgang,
At present, you cannot connect two Surfaces to one MixRack. It was discussed earlier in this thread.

Even if you have 2 Dante cards installed (one in the mixrack and one in the second surface) ?

I don't think that would matter. Dante would just be for passing audio signals not control (I assume). What's not clear to me is how many of each type of controller can 'operate' the mixrack. I think I'll start a new thread and ask for some clarification on this.

hello Nicola,
oh, I hope this it is still adapted.
I would want a C1500 as “sidecar” in the FOH in addition to the S3000.
also for uses with two engineers (e.g., orchestra mix and band mix) this would be a great solution.

if this does not work, the purchase is not worthwhile for me.

Nice KB paper about gigaACE and swithces/media, however Spanning Tree is L2, not L3 as far as I know.

@Wolfgang
As I said, two Surfaces on one MixRack is not currently supported. It’s on the list of things to do, but I don’t have a timescale at present. You might want to consider a second, compact MixRack as this would give you the flexibility of deploying two systems separately when needed.

OK, thank you.
but it is good to know that it´s on your to-do list

So give us that 2u DSP only rack for FOH Nicola

Mmmm…I actually use a Cymaticaudio uTrack24 for backingtracks (don’t want to use computers for live gigs) and it gives midi program changes to all the hardware on stage, including our actual digital mixer, for every song in the setlist.
Is there any way to send a midi signal, from a normal midi output, to the dlive without using computers (this thing will be crucial for me in deciding whether to buy or not the product)?
Thanks
