I’ve seen a handful of posts about this a few years back. But is there any possibility of releasing an update making faders follow crossfades in scenes? It’s super helpful to see the visual feedback, and not have the noise of a bunch of faders snapping to their saved location. I feel like this is important to a lot of people in the church world/higher productions.
is there functionality for it already built in? Could this be fixed in a future update? Or is something physically missing in the fader construction?
I would NOT expect it to be simple to have a real-time exact match to the actual DSP fader value. On the other hand it seems like it “should” be fairly straightforward to send a command to the fader board that says “go to this spot and take this long to do it.”
I imagine it would require changes to both the surface app and to the fader board firmware.
It might make stiff faders and/or weak fader motors show up sooner too.
Yeah, you immediately see what the final value is, you can immediately override and change those faders. If they would still move, how should it react if something blocks the movement? I don’t really see the benefit of seeing the “exact” values in the scene fade second or two.
An option for that would be fine, but I wouldn’t want it fixed that way.
I would definitely love this but I’m not getting my hopes up.
For me the reason is very simple. There are situations where using scenes are problematic since it is extremely noisy, especially if you have many scene changes in a row. In a quite section of a show, or in our symphonic hall you definately get some looks from the audience.
IIRC, A&H has said they do it that way to reduce wear & tear on the fader motors. Dunno if anything’s happened to change the analysis since that decision was made
