DLive OEM Group is Too Quiet

I run FOH at the church where I work. DLive S5000. We have up to 4 people using OEM for speaking in different parts of the service, not at the same time. I have a mono group set up for the pastors speaking. I’m getting proper levels with gain, eq, compressor with gain. Then they feed into the group where I process some more (graphic EQ, desser, dy8 multiband). The 4 pastor mics are not sending to main L/R, but the group is sending to main L/R.

The levels I’m getting in this pastor group are low. I’m pushing the individual channels faders 5db above unity and then I’m pushing the group fader above unity. I don’t know why I’m getting this low output. I have a vox group for singers (handheld mics) that doesn’t have this problem. Am I missing something? The output from the group sounds good, but I can’t seem to get it loud enough. Thoughts?

Does the perceived volume of the channels go up if you bypass the group and send them directly to the Main L/R? If so, then it’s likely something with your processing on that group.

Another thing to try would be to bypass all your processing on the group and see if you get that perceived level increase. If you hear a level increase, maybe bypass the processing one piece at a time to narrow down which component is causing your problem.

That’s great advice! I’ll be sure to test it out that way. I’ll followup here after I’ve done so. Thank you!

Trims in the input channels? Output level in input/group compressors?

I found it to be the amount of reduction in the NEQ on the group. I maintained the shape on the NEQ but boosted each frequency about 5db and that solved it. Thanks again for your insight!

You also could have put 5db in the group Dyn8 overall gain or the compressor make up.

Putting 5-10db make up in channel compressors also help with that. Keep it the same for mics of the same instrument, like all drum mics, so that you have still consistency on fader levels between that channels. This will affect the whole gain structure of your show of course and not only this OEM group.
