Hi guys, I’m struggling with some configurations now,
There is any possibility to have my dlive s5000 on foh with Dm64 and Avantis in monitors connected by any chance? I have also a gx4816
There’s any way I can set up an avantis on foh for continuity ? Without any card
I tried with DX hub also to connect dlive and a SQ5 but couldn’t make it also, thought that going from there to every DX port would work
Thanks!
The Dlive Surface and Mixrack will connect to each other via the built in GigaAce connectors. Unfortunately, those built in GigaAce connections cannot be used for any other purpose - like connecting to a GX4816 stage box or another console. This means that in order to connect the Dlive system to another A&H console and/or directly to the GX4816, you need an additional GigaAce I/O card for each connection (assuming you want to use GigaAce instead of Dante/Waves/Madi).
So no, you cannot connect an Avantis and/or a GX4816 to the DLive without a GigaAce I/O card (at least one, but two if you need to connect both the Avantis and the GX4816 to the DLive).
If you do have a GigaAce I/O card in the DLive system, you can use the built in SLink port in the Avantis to complete the connection with the Dlive system. However this will use up the single built in SLink port, so if you want to connect the GX4816 to the Avantis, it will require a GigaAce card installed in it.
Long story short, to connect a DLive system to a Avantis along with a GX4816, you will need two GigaAce I/O cards. One will be installed in the DLive to connect to the Avantis, the other card will be installed in whichever system you want to connect the GX4816 to. If you want the GX4816 connected to the DLive, it will need to be installed in the DLive. If you want to connect the GX4816 to the Avantis, it will need to be installed in the Avantis.
Alternatively, you can use matching Dante/Waves/Madi cards in both the DLive and Avantis to connect the two systems together. If you did this, you could connect the GX4816 to the Avantis using the built in SLink port. This means only the two Dante/Waves/Madi cards would be required. On the other hand, if there was some reason the GX4816 had to be connected to the DLive system, it would still require it’s own GigaAce I/O card installed in the DLive to plug the GX4816 into.
To summarize, you have basically three options…
- Option 1 where the DLive is connected to an Avantis and a GX4816 requires two GigaAce cards. At least 1 in the DLive (to connect the Avantis) and the other in whichever system you want to connect the GX4816 to.
- Option 2 where the Dlive and Avantis are connected via Dante, Waves, or Madi and the GX4816 is connected to the Avantis requires two Dante, Waves, or Madi cards - one in each console.
- Option 3 where the Dlive and Avantis are connect via Dante, Waves, Madi and the GX4816 has to be connected to the DLive system requires two Dante, Waves, or Madi cards AND a GigaAce card in the DLive to connect the GX4816 to.
Hopefully that helps explain what would be required.
