Hi there,
I would love the ability to do channel ducking. I’m sure it could come in handy for others for live events and things, but for me, I’d use it for podcasting. Being able to duck the Bluetooth channel as well would seal the deal!

I’m wondering if the AMM can be tweaked to do a similar job?
I use it for bgm in a livestream on my QU, it’s very useful.
Pretty Please Keith and co. Ducking is a really important tool for our work on live events.
I’d also like to see ducking added. I actually think it is MORE important to have ducking on a console designed for the small events/situations because it is more likely there won’t be an audio engineer monitoring things all the time.
For example, I routinely use it at neighborhood events that have a PA set up for background music and announcements to duck the background music a little further when someone starts speaking on the mic.
I think that’s what the AMM is for. It appears to pull back other channels, and I don’t see any restriction on them being other mic inputs.
You would just set your talk mic to a higher priority and turn AMM on for all the channels in use (I think).

I need a ducker, or the option of a sidechain compression.
Side chain compression pls. Thank you!

Ducking is really important, as we use the CQ a lot for small events with music and moderation so you would not need to have a technician at the place all of the time.
Id gladly sacrifice all the reverb effects, chorus, delay and flanger effects for a compressor with sidechain for ducking!
I mean, my guitars have pedals and my synths have inbuilt effects. not sure why I need umpteen dozen reverb/chorus/delay/flanger effects but yet cant have a compressor with sidechain
Hi,
an additional usecase for my CQ20-B is mixing of a live comments/talk (mic) over an audio stream commming from a phone/tablet/pc or the SD card.
I see two posible aaproaches inside the CQ20-B:

In the time being you can achieve proper ducking with the use of external VST pluging.

And for the AMM-Workaround - how fast are attack and release. I read in another pdf, that it’s not meant for music :-/
Plus: the qu16 has a simple ducking-function, is there - after all those wishing fans - something similar planned? It would help me to decide between 1010’s Bluebox (which also isn’t ableto, but cheaper and smaller) and the CQ12T.
I tried the AMM-possibility on my qu16, but it was everything but on point; furthermore there is the D-classic version installed, not the NOM-version… Has anyone tried?
Thx in advance

I would love this feature. For me, the CQ’s are for some smaller events, and I really love using the CQ’s for small events. But the problem here is that, at small events, I am not always by the deck. And here, this feature would make some things a lot easier. Just play some music in the background at a decent level, and if someone talks, it automatically lowers. No more staying and waiting at the mixer for ages for someone to say something.
I would really love this feature.
PS: I have not tried to use AMM for ducking. To be honest, I have never thought about alienating this feature, but I will try it soon. But as some of you guys already said, I also think that AMM will not be as precise as a dedicated ducking feature.

OK, we are talking about FEATURE SUGGESTION here, not “how could I do that”.
But I think AMM is a good tool and I have had good experiences with it at our live performances
with 3 singers and 1 blues harp mic in the band
It responds quickly but smoothly. so singing 3 voices at the same time is no problem.
This is completely different from what the AMM manual says, that participants take turns speaking. but it works.
If you can use two normal inputs paired as ST input. I would try it that way and have a good feeling it would work.
The FEATURE SUGGESTION for me would be to add ST-IN, USB-IN and BT-In to AMM.
