Received an email this evening with an invitation to a webinar demo-ing firmware V1.3 and the GLD Editor application:
“GLD Editor lets you configure a GLD digital mixing system before a performance, check and edit guest engineers’ show files and even mix live from a laptop or tablet.”
Join us for an exclusive preview of the forthcoming GLD Editor software and GLD V1.3 firmware. GLD Editor lets you configure a GLD digital mixing system before a performance, check and edit guest engineers’ show files and even mix live from a laptop or tablet.
There will be live demos with our our product specialists, an opportunity to put your questions to key R&D team members, plus we’ll look at how to set up ME personal mixing systems for touring and installation using the ME-U hub.
Space is limited so please reserve your Webinar seat now. There are two sessions to suit different time zones.
Watched the webinar this morning (very early) and definitely am looking forward to next week. Both modes of operation (off line and on line) will be very useful.

I was kind of hoping that the on-line mode would be able to take better advantage of Windows 8 tablets… seems like the UI is oriented around mouse/keyboard at this point.
On-line mode will definitely have its uses but it doesn’t look like the editor is going to be anywhere near as slick as the iPad app for walking the room and tweaking on a tablet.
Of course the real reason for the “Editor” is to edit in OFF LINE mode so we don’t have to setup the GLD on a table in the family room for us weekend warriors. Also my business partner does most of the GLD setup so far so my time on it is minimal. Now I can train/play on my laptop.
iPad for on stage LIVE changes makes more sense anyways due to the portability aspects. Laptop at FOH for additional views (layer with MC mic and iPod) and/or teamwork during transitions might be a big plus.
I am sure we will all come up with the best way to use the tools offered.

I don’t entirely disagree–just seems to me like there was an opportunity to make the iPad redundant if using a touch-enabled laptop with a tablet mode in that scenario.
