This may be obvious to some of you, but I’m not familiar A&H’s entire ecosystem with their network protocols yet.
We are currently using a GX4816, but we have an event coming up where I need more outputs. Can I use the AR2412 from the DX port on the stage rack?
I can connect to the GX4816 from the Avantis using the SLink port that goes into the DX, so I would presume so, but you never know.
Hi Kris,
I’m afraid that’s not possible.
The AR2412, AB168 and AR84 operate at 48kHz and cannot be mixed with 96kHz DX/GX expanders on the same SLink port.
Each DX port on the GX4816 allows connection of either:
A single DX32
One or two DX168, DX164-W, DX012 in any combination
The DX2 port can also be used for connection to the ME personal mixing system.
If you already own an AR2412, then the best option is to use it with the Avantis SLink port, and get a gigaACE card to run the GX4816 on a separate Cat cable.
If you don’t have an AR2412 and are looking for I/O expansion, I would definitely recommend looking at DX expanders instead.
