External Router as Access Point

Hi everyone, I thought I was really clever by connecting up a TP-Link portable router as an access point so that I could run a wired Ethernet connection to my laptop simultaneously with an iPad (both running MixPad) and smartphones running CQ4U for each band member to control their IEM mix. Got it all configured and working as an AP…..but….

Keep getting “connection lost” on all devices after a few seconds of operation. You can see the CQ-20B on the Mixpad / CQ4U connection page, so it looks like it could be intermittently disconnecting and reconnecting.

Anyone had the same experience? If so, how did you resolve it?

Which TP-Link portable router are you using?

We’ve seen that some of them have the DHCP expiry set to be extremely short (2mins) which will coincide with the connection loss. Change that figure to the highest possible (2880) and the problem should go away.

Thanks Mark - going to give that a go now.

Hi Mark, great suggestion. Turns out it was set to 1minute!!!
