Feedback Assistant On Input or Assign to Softkey

I have noticed that you can only apply the feedback assistant on an output channel - would it be possible have it on an input - so you only apply to your mic inputs?

Or the other option would be to have FBA toggle on and off via softkey button?

Not sure if the hardware would allow for this but if it does, I would absolutely love it!! Whenever I have feedback issues it’s always because of just two vocal mics. It would be great to be able to apply the feedback filters only to those mics instead of making cuts to the entire sound.
Before I got the CQ18T I was using a Zoom L20 with an outboard dbx AFS2 and would sometimes run the two mics straight into the AFS2 then out to the mixer. Worked great without cutting the feedback frequencies from the entire mix.

The CQ basically has 7 feedback assistants. One for each output. If there was a way to assign them to either outputs or inputs that would be perfect.

Did your direct-connected mics provide enough level to drive the feedback processor in the AFS2? I thought it was -10/+4db at the inputs?

It’s been a while since I used that setup but I don’t remember running into any issues with that. I think before I bought it I called dBX and asked them if I could do that (run the mic directly into the AFS2 input, then run the output into the mic’s channel on the board) and they said it was perfectly fine to do that.

One thing I do when I ring out a room for feedback is to crank the compression on the mic channels to the max. This lets me create feedback at relatively low volumes. Very helpful because in most venues we play, we set up when the place is open so blasting loud feedback would just piss everyone off. This may have helped with the low signal level from the mic going directly into the AFS2.

I do the same compression trick with the CQ18T’s FBA.
