Feedback Asssistant CQ18T

Hi all

Have got an CQ18T and love it so far , however a bit confused and not sure if this is the way the feedback assistant should work. as i specially bought this for this FBA

I have connected 2 shure SM58 mic to input 1 & 2 and started singing normally

turned on RTA and FBA on main out L/R without actually physically connecting any speakers

The FBA seems detecting feedback and cutting down frequencies in live mode or fixed mode

Now clearly this is not feedback as it cant hear itself without speakers.

Is this how its suppose to work or the unit is faulty ??

If you produce sounds with your voice that are similar to feedback, your device will also detect them as feedback.
You should do the feedback detection before your sound check and not leave it active while you’re singing.

thank you for the response SQuser, I did not produce sound similar to feedback but normal singing with 2 diffrent singers.

sorry could you please eleborate more on how to do the feedback detection before sound check ?

Cheers

Acacio

If you’re rapping, it won’t happen, but every sustained vocal note has a fundamental frequency that the system could classify as feedback - even if you don’t perceive it that way, of course.
Other sounds, like long, distorted e-guitar notes or sustained keyboard sounds, can also be interpreted this way.

Have you already read your user guide, especially pages 45-47?
It seems to be described quite well there.
Otherwise, a practical video on YouTube might also be helpful.
