Firmware update available! Version 2.11 is out

Some very cool additions are available now.

The message on the A&H website!

A link to Nicola’s statement regarding the EW-DX compatibility.

Hallelujah! Super happy to see the team continue to make meaningful updates to the platform, especially the traditional DEEP processing.

I do feel a pang of guilt for all the folks who were hoping for more support for Sennheiser RF systems though.

I’m very excited about the new update. I think it really checks off some of the most requested features. So thank you A&H!

That being said, at the same time I am honestly a little disappointed too. Given that the developers were deep into the “Action” and RF Integration portions of the firmware, it seems like a missed opportunity to add more of the most requested features IMHO. For example, I still can’t believe that Actions can’t do any of the tasks that a custom button can do, nor do I think that the SLX-D wireless system was the most requested system to integrate!

Clearly this is just a “I’m never satisfied” response, but it does reflect my current mood…

Yeah, this is kind a weird state of things. A couple of years ago I would never have thought that group to group would be a dLive feature. I’m happy it is, and even more happy with the mute group/dca mute override.
However, some basics a being neglected. Like simple stuff such as show file sorting and write protection etc. Actions are great, but softkey button coloring is random and lacking when using actions.

The good with the bad I suppose.

That’s a very fine update, a lot of great stuff!:+1:

Bringing soft buttons and actions completely together should really be the next step in this regard.

I think the developers haven’t “steps” in mind, the whole actions thing is more like an evolution.
I’m sure the color coding is on the list. It just takes time.

No EW-DX Integration? The protocoll is Open to download at Sennheiser: https://www.sennheiser.com/globalassets/digizuite/40838-en-ew-dx_sound_control_protocol_03_2023_en.pdf

Lets go Allen & Heath !!

Ok, riddle me this:

In/Out gain linking for the 1176 is a new feature in v2.11.

CompStortion (a compressor that based its layout on the 1176) is also a new feature in 2.11…but doesn’t have In/Out gain linking.

Thats almost a troll

Distressor isn’t based on the 1176 alone, it has a bus mode and an opto mode, both have nothing in common with an 1176.

The comp parameters are exactly the same a 76 has. In/Out/Att/Rel. Of course it is 76 based.

I’m pretty sure the 1176 was the first FET compressor created. As such, every FET compressor produced after that is “based” on the 1176. However the Distressor compressor does MUCH more than the 1176 (for example it has the different modes that Steffen already mentioned), so to imply that they are the “same” compressor is completely off base - especially it sounds like your entire reasoning for the statement you made is based solely on the visual “look” of the compressor which is meaningless. I mean just about every compressor has an in/out/Att/Rel that can be adjusted. That doesn’t mean they are all based on the 1176!

That said, gain link would be an obvious thing to implement.

The main thing that makes it 76 based is the fixed threshold, but it doesn’t matter for the statement above.

Just to be clear I wrote “a compressor that based its layout on the 1176”. An objectively correct statement. I mentioned nothing about the compressor design…since it is completely irrelevant to my initial statement.

I always like to wait a little before updating firmware on devices, especially with regards to system critical ones.

Anybody heard of any issues so far with regards the latest release? I haven’t seen anything mentioned here, and a quick Google doesn’t really come up with anything either. Not sure if that is a good thing, or whether it means everyone is waiting for others to upgrade first

A first look doesn’t bring any problems to my attention.

I haven’t posted here about it yet, but the one thing I noticed was that the UFX vocal tuning plugin sounded a lot more robotic after the firmware was updated. I went through the normal procedure of reloading my show file after the firmware update, so all the settings should be the same. I wasn’t the only person to notice it either… (I’m sure I can play around with the setting and get it sounding better, but I haven’t had the time to do that yet).

After that, my biggest issues were with the third party app Mixing Station. I’m not complaining either. David did an incredible job getting a working beta version out just days after the firmware was released. It seems that a lot of little changes were made to the underlying communication protocol and therefore there are still some minor bugs that David needs to get fixed for the software to work 100% again (it’s probably at 95% currently). Knowing how fast David works, I bet he already has 99% of them fixed.

EDIT - I just checked and David does have a new beta version out. I won’t be able to try it immediately, but I suspect it fixes most of the issues with the existing DLive functionality. I know it might take a little more time to introduce the new 2.11 features in MS, but I suspect those changes will be coming soon as well.

Been running the new firmware on our CDM64+C3500 for over a week without issue. No UFX card. House of worship context. My biggest hurdle is that MixingStation isn’t compatible with the new firmware yet, as already @sic0048 mentioned. But I knew that was likely to be the case prior to installing. I’m sure it will get updated soon.

No bugs here so far either, but I had not realized how much I have come to rely on Mixing Station on my iPhone for little things here and there until I updated to 2.11.

And, as far as I can tell, the iOS beta only allows a limited number of users to participate, and all the slots are full.

Glad to know that an update is in the works.

Since it seems there are significant changes to AHNet, I need to see if my hack for setting the Mix Rack time still works.

Thanks for your replies on that. Sounds like I should be good to go to update the console/mixrack next chance I get then.

I’m not a MixingStation user really, the MixPad app does what I need of it. But good to know that David has already got his app en route to being fully compatible with the latest firmware.

I haven’t even tried any of the Vocal Tuning plugins yet. Never got into using AutoTune type plugins. Will be fine there then.

Itching to get my hands on the Distressor and Rhythm Delay toys though.
Glad they implemented being able to unmute channels independently even while in a still muted Mute Group/DCA (if I understood this new feature correctly) as I found it so handy during line checks when I was using the Profile for FOH.
