Flightcase for SQ5

Hey everyone!
I’m looking for a rather lightweight flightcase for my SQ5 to bring along with festival gigs.
I do want to bring along two 19 inch analog gear that ideally are build in the rack.

I already found the SKB 10x2 Compact Rolling Rig online, but reviews online are pretty negative about the build quality.

Anyone here who can advise me in buying the perfect flightcase for my SQ5 with 19inch gear?

Greetings,
Rick

Not sure if it is something you are planning on flying with or not, but would something like this work?

This company is in Europe, so the site itself may not suit, but could give you an idea at least.

Or there is a Gator version of what you were looking at, but you would need different brackets I believe to make it fit and close:

I also found this one that while is a bit heavier, seems like a great option.
Ignore the pic, it does say it fits the SQ5, and gives you a laptop stand as well for the price.

If money is no option, these are the mutts nuts for case solutions and what I would go for, if I won the lottery.

(I know this isn’t a lightweight option, but too nice to not share)

Thanks for the reply!
I’m looking for a flightcase I can carry around easily and can fit in my car. So something without wheel will do.

Maybe check the 3rd option in my first comment and see if that would suit then? Looks like it might do the job reasonably well, and offer better protection than SKB/Gator would. The main issue I always found with SKB was that their latches are absolutely atrocious. There is no real tension to them, and are easily knocked open.

Yeah, I’ll have a look. I’m from Europe tho, so I have to look if they sell them here.

Ah crap. I thought you were in the US based on the currency I saw in your first comment link.

ProX only have dealers in North America, and a few random countries such as Nigeria being the possible closest. Take a look anyway, you might be able to get one shipped from somewhere if suits.

Two things to know

  1. The SKB rack ears are superior to the AH ones, they let the desk sit lower in any case you choose
  2. The gigrig isnt that bad but the covers can break/crack. SKB does warranty them but its a hassle to ask and then get one sent to you. We have the R100 which is basically the same minus the rack spaces and we’re the only ones that move it and it’s going on 5 years now and we haven’t broken a cover. We’ve sold a couple to people that were rough with them and you can break them.
  3. (I like 3 things) the pelican style skb is nice if youre into that kind of layout, I prefer rack mounted.

I’ve always found Castle Cases to be excellent: really helpful, and competitively priced.

I own the SKB flight pelican style case for sq5 and have used it on a month long national tour as well as flown to Australia for a tour consisting of 8 flights total on that run and honestly the case has held up well.

Does the SQ5 fit in the 10 x 2 Compact Rig or only the 10 x2 Compact Rolling Rig?

I can’t comment on the 10 x 2 but I’ve been using the SKB 1SKB-R104W 4U + 10U for a year now with no issues. You need the 1SKB-RE-SQ5 Rack Ears to make it fit. I can easily see how the lids would crack if they were roughly handled and I wouldn’t put it in the hold of a plane, but I’ve used it on multiple UK festivals throughout last summer and it’s been fine. No issues with the catches here. I second the recommendation for Castle Cases, had lots of cases off them in the past. I’ve been considering getting them to make me a custom flightcase for extra protection but haven’t pulled the trigger yet because the SKB is doing the job.
