I’ve already done nearly 40 gigs with 3 different A&H CQ20B consoles (2 CQ20Bs were purchased by bands after seeing me use them), and overall, I’m very satisfied.
Most of the gigs were indoors using the Wi-Fi connection (2.4 GHz hotspot, WPA2) without any interruptions.
Yesterday, outdoors and at a reasonable distance (I was 7-8 meters from the CQ20B), I experienced numerous Wi-Fi disconnections, which would reconnect after a few seconds, until eventually it became impossible to reconnect.
I asked the musicians on stage to turn off their cellular data.
Initially, I was using two tablets simultaneously (an iPad and a Samsung tablet, which rules out a problem with tablet reception range).
By the time I’d gone to find and retrieved an Ethernet cable, and after turning off one of the two tablets, the Wi-Fi connection had stabilized.
I suspect that using two Wi-Fi devices was partly responsible for this instability.
Furthermore, the CQ20B was in the sun at the beginning of the concert. Could overheating have been the cause?

Other WIFI in the area could have been stepping on you. Change the WIFI channel, go to 5g, use an external router, get a WIFI scanner app to see what else is in use and on what channel, get a somewhat line of site path between you and the mixer.
I had a situation where I had separate sound and lighting wifi ‘routers’ running, and the lighting one was getting stepped on until I realized they were right next to each other. separating them fixed the issue. Also, get a wifi scanner app for your phone, as often some channels are MUCH more congested than others, causing problems.
Thanks for your answer. At the begining of using the CQ20B I was suspicious about Wifi connection. I began to use ethernet connection. But after many indoor gigs without any problem using Wifi, I forget gradually ethernet protocol. But for the last concert, it was not the good idea !
At this point in time, you should never, ever use 2.4Ghz Wifi. That band shares space with most bluetooth devices. Get 10 or more bluetooth devices just standing around in a room with 2.4Ghz Wifi and you’ll see that signal quickly clutter and become unusable. If you are going to use wireless, always use 5Ghz.
