Hello to everybody as I am new here to the forum. So recently I started working as a sound engineer that uses the SQ5 one of the issues I am having is that before gain staging on any channel I can turn down the gain on channel 1 as an example (kick drum channel) if it’s turned down I still have a strong signal coming close to unity and it doesn’t give me much head room and the output is weak. Is this due to AMM being activated and if that is the issue is it best to turn on the -20db pad and deactivate the AMM since AMM will cause the volume to drop?
The AMM is generally used for conferences, where one mic is active at a time, ducking all the others. I don’t think using it for music is a good idea.
