I’m getting a really bad crackle on all/any channel when using phantom power. Checked:
cables
connections
mics
by swapping them out etc
When I use a dynamic on any channel, with phantom off, it’s fine.
Other than sending the board out for repair, is there something else I should be looking at?
Sending the console to A&H Service is certainly the best option!
Alternatively:
The console is about 20 years old and based on analog circuitry.
And you can even find the service manual online.
If the same problem occurs on every channel with phantom power turned on, it could very likely be due to the (yellow) part in the power supply that provides the 48V.
Maybe there’s a guy in your area who’s always repaired electronics, has an oscilloscope and the necessary know-how, and can use it to walk through the circuit to find the culprit.
Or ask an old sound engineer about this guy.
If all fails: Go back to the best option above.
