I’m trying to comprehend something on group output routing. If I create a stereo group, and I route that group to an ME output path, is that group sent pre-fader, or is it affected by the level of the group - as sent to the Main Output Path?
While the block diagram in the Avantis firmware reference manual doesn’t mention ME routing specifically, I have to assume it is part of the “Output Patch”. Looking at the diagram, it appears that groups sent to the “output patch” are sent post fader.
Therefore I am 95% confident in saying the answer to your question is “post fader”, so it will be affected by the level of the group fader (as sent to the main output path).
I can confirm this - I was finally able to get behind the Avantis last night and actually test the IO with an ME. I wonder why A&H doesn’t give you an option for a pre-fader output… To work around, I can create mirror matrixes, send the group Pre-Fader to those, and then send the matrix to the ME, but don’t like to do that because it eats additional Mixes in the config.
OK, I’m probably going to be publicly humiliated by this but what does “ME” stand for?
“ME” refers to the Allen & Heath Personal Monitor Systems. Specifically the ME-1 or ME-500.
Thanks!

Presumably named because of the age old phrase you hear from stage…
“Can I get more ME in the monitor please?”
And if that isn’t the actual reason, then shush your mouth and don’t burst my bubble
Then you have no volume control over the send.
But that shouldn’t matter when using an ME specifically - since the volume of the send is then independently controlled there on the ME-mixer. If I create a drum sub-group (for hypothetical example) and want to send that stereo mix to an ME, so I use a stereo channels instead of 10 mono through the direct outs, I want each ME to have individual control of how loud that mix is in their own ears in contrast to the other instruments. How something goes to an IEM system should have zero consequence as the result of where that item is in the Main mix.
