We are getting a dLive system soon and using the director software I am trying to plan out how I will set it up for mixing a musical.
We will be running a LCR Sub system.
I have set the main bus to 5.1 mode.
I have found the 5.1 panning controls on the routing screen when the channel is selected, but my question is how to do the surround control for a group sent to the main bus.
I usually use groups on the mics for compression and other processing - say one for the ensemble and one for the leads, how can I then mix that group to the center channel with divergence control?

Select one of the MASTERS (e.g. Main LR) OUT, got to Routing and the Tab “Groups”. Your groups show the panning field. It’s not the most logical place to find it, but here is your solution.

I don’t think your request was a part of the original poster’s question, but I think it would be possible to do what you are describing.
Scene crossfade times affect level and pans, so make a set of scenes with your source panned as desired. Set the crossfade time for each scene. Use recall filters to limit the parameters that change. Link the scenes together with embedded recall.
I asked about QLab because I made a preliminary version of a QLab “Network Device Descriptor” file. This allows QLab to treat the dLive TCP MIDI interface as a network device, instead of a MIDI device, bypassing the A&H MIDI Control driver/app. (As a separate TCP connection it can either replace or coexist with A&H MIDI control). It only works in one direction QLab → dLive, because it wasn’t at all clear to me how to get QLab to listen to a network device.
I haven’t had time (nor need, so far) to do much testing/experimentation, but I think a QLab network command with fades might be able to do some interesting things like automated panning.
If nothing else, it is a much more intuitive way to put together a dLive MIDI command because you can use dropdowns and sliders instead of assembling hex codes.
