HEllo.
Did someone have already had a chance to test the H4MIDI WC with the CQ mixers ?
Hi. I entend to test this in the coming days.
I currently use the H4 to control my guitar pedalboard from an android tablet running LivePrompter, and I’d like to control effects in the CQ in the same way.
The main limitation already identified is the control of the Tap Tempo of delays in the CQ. According to the A&H support, the only way to control the Tap Tempo with MIDI is to affect the Tap Tempo to a soft key, and emulate peridic hits on this soft key.
Hi.
I am currently also testing a lot, with Loopy Pro alongside with STage traxx 3.
Both Ipad APP are working with the CQ12T but it sometimes crashes, unable to reconnect to the CQ.
Are you using also loopy pro ? Do you also have some random crashes ?
I am also looking for a AUV delay plugin with TAP and midi.
Could you maybe advise with a good AUv3 delay plugin with midi and TAP tempo ?
Im in the process of both setting up and testing as I go.
My full rig consists of 3 synths, guitar board, voc processor and DMX light control. Central control is Setlist Maker in iPad, each song pings midi to said items. Now historically Im using channels 1, 2, 3 and various others. Problem is CQ is fixed ch 1 and the hell will I change all those synth patch calls and various internal synth filtering.
So enter the CME H4.
I have setup routing in the H4 so that the keys and normal 5 pin midi is via USb port 1 x 16 channels.
CQ is in port 4 using ch 1
Setlist allows me to allocate port and channel to any added device in the library.
Its worked so far. I can now ping out raw midi to the CQ or any of the commands in the midi protocol manual, one comment here. Soft key references in issue 1 were incorrect and Im now a lot thinner hair on my head….issue 4 is now correct.
I point out that I dont use scenes as a live recall as I dont want volumes hopping around from what they are at that current point in time.
I am using mainly for mute/unmute the drummers voc mic in appropriate songs and works well.
I have experimented with 3 softkeys and they work tho found issue with a multitrack recorded playback scene, allocating a stop to button 3 and play/pause to 2, 3/stop caused it to freeze up soft buttons.
My opinion, works ok and better than my old iConnect Midi 2+ it replaced.
I have one queston to the A&H team I will post separately regarding Show selection.
Hey, I got one with the intention to map note on messages on midi channel 6 of my elektron analog four (the CV track) to trigger scene changes using the mapper to translate the notes to programme change messages. My midi tracker shows that the translation is working but then while I’ve or two scene changes may work, it then seems to go unstable and won’t change the scenes any more. Just wondering if ye’d any debugging/setup tips? Thanks
Hi all. I’m glad to see this discussion and am looking for help. I had it easy with my previous (inferior) mixer and now that I have the awesome CQ20B, I need to be able to change settings on the CQ20B via MIDI when I change programs on my HELIX (guitar effects with ability to send MIDI).
My setup:
- HELIX out to the H4MIDIWC in
- H4MIDIWC USB-C to computer (windows) with MIDI Control (CC translator) and HxMIDI Tools running
- H4MIDIWC USB-A to USB splitter to CQ20B (and another device)
When I program CCs, no matter what I try, it does not change any settings on the CQ20B.
Thanks for the partnership!
update: I downloaded the Bome MIDI Translator trial software based on Keith’s input on this thread: https://forums.allen-heath.com/t/cq-and-midi-controllers/15497/6
When I also had the CC Translator running, I was able to send a bank change message from my HELIX to change a scene on the CQ20B. It was enough to convince me to purchase the Bomebox which will arrive next week.
Update-er! I got the Bome and MIDI Translator … it took quite a bit to learn and Steve C from Bome was very helpful … and it works!!!
I ended up by using only an Ipad, with loopy Pro for some vocal FX and Stage Traxx 3.
For the CQ I either stand it next to me or I use another android tablet.
Simple setup, nothing more is needed.
