I am trying to adopt Soft Autotune for my shows, and the main problem with it is that compared to traditional Autotune algorithms this one lets you sing the wrong note (i do not need Gridder efex) if high notes are some how corrected so lower notes are almost not corrected at all, the problem even gets worse then i change KEY to # for eg C# , it corrects not the same as in C key. I have tried to use 2or 3 or even 4 autotunes in series, it corrects bit better but still lets you sing wrong note. Gain setting is critical for autotune with lower gain it do not corrects at all. It’s very strange cause if i compare it to “traditional autotunes” looks like mine’s broken, or its just my UFX card is broken?
Did any body had same problems?

Straight from the DLive Firmware Reference Manual…
- Correction limits the Tuner correction, when used in conjunction with the Retune and
Transition speed, can be used to create a more (or less) natural sounding Pitch Correction.
- Retune sets the speed at which Vocal Tuner should correct to the correct note.
- After Vocal tuner detects a change in the note being sung, Transition controls how soon to
begin correcting the note.
- Very fast Retune and Transition speeds will sound “robotic” and “choppy” whilst slower speeds will sound more natural but may never finish correcting the pitch before the next note.
It sounds like you might need to adjust the retune and transitions speeds if the vocal correction is not “completing” before the next note is sung (if you really care about it that much).
Yes i have read the manual before i even got my UFX card, and i really care about the notes, just try it in on your dLive record the result (with tuner inserted) and analyze it in Melodyne. You’ll get the same shitty results as i got. Tuner in dLive corrects only Hi pitched long notes all short phrases are not tuned at all. Also try the C# key, it does not work in it at all. It tunes slightly in C,A and G other Keys are somehow not working, even if you mess with the arrows and crosses that should exclude the wrong note.
I would say it does not work compared to other algorithms that are on market today. Its not even close to them..
Where in your chain do you have Vocal Tuner? I have it in Insert A slot right after Filter and Gate. Many people put it later in the chain and the phase shift from eq, dyn8, etc. can mess up the detection. Hope it helps
Hi, yes of course i tired it to insert right after the preamp , especially for this purpose i have 2ch almost unprocessed going to 1 mono AUX bus (main and spare in this AUX bus i have insert of
Autotune and then this bus feeds another input chanell were all processing is done.
This makes switching from Main to Spare mic very smooth with all balance and processing left untouched.
But the problem of autotune is still present. It really does very bad job on lower notes and it do not tune enough to say that note is tuned.
I mean compared to common algorithms, like waves or antares. Currently i am using antares 10th version in classic mode running on UAD apollo 16D.
I dont say that UFx card is useless i still use lot of EFX from it. But autotune is disappointing it really is very far from real world instruments
