How many ME1 units can be chained from the monitor port of aAH2412?

Hi

I am thinking of getting an SQ rack unit. I already have a 2412. Can you tell me

  1. How many ME1 or ME500 units can be ‘daisy chained off the monitor port of the 2412?
  2. Does the 2412 port provide POE for one or more ME units?
  3. Does the SLink port on the SQ provide POE for one or more ME units

  1. Theoretically unlimited but Id say the practical limit is probably about a dozen. Your best bet however is a good PoE switch (search the forums there’s a few good posts) or the ME-U Hub

FYI - while using an ME-U will ensure compatibility with the A&H ecosystem, it is not the only solution. You can use regular network switches in lue of an ME-U. However there are some very specific requirements that must be followed.

I would add that every “daisy chained” unit requires its own power supply, even if using a PoE switch. The ME-1 does not pass PoE. By far your cleanest bet is to have every ME-1 connected directly to a PoE switch port, like the MU, and daisy chain only if you run out of ports.
