How to connect SQ5 on internet

Please guide how to connect my SQ5 over internet so that it can be operated via app.

Can you please explain why you want to do this (for context).

Also, as this is related to your IT configuration and not your SQ5 itself, we will need details of your IT infrastructure.

Is your SQ desk connected to your IT infrastructure at the moment, and do the Apps currently work?

This usually involves port forwarding on your router (or whatever you have connecting your internal network to the internet).

You may require some help from A&H regarding which ports are being used etc.

I don’t want to disuade you from trying, but I am struggling to see what the use case would be (other than remotely diagnosing problems).

First, you don’t need the “internet” to access the SQ5 via a mobile app. You simply need a local network. It can have internet access, but it is not required for your use case.

So basically you need to:

  1. Have a functioning local network. This could be as simple as an “all-in-one” consumer grade router/switch/WiFi access point with only the SQ console plugged into it.
  2. Set up the WiFi network if there isn’t already working WiFi on the network.
  3. Plug the SQ console into the local network using the network plug on the back of the console.
  4. Connect your mobile device to the WiFi network and open the A&H mobile app. Connect to the SQ console.
  5. Enjoy mobile mixing…

Now if you are trying to connect a mobile app to a SQ that is not on the same local network - ie you want to control a facility’s SQ console when you are not physically located at that facility - that is a different situation and you need to get an IT expert to help with that. That is not hard for an IT professional to setup, but you want to make sure the solution is secure because setting it up wrong will expose your entire network to hackers. Therefore I would never recommend that someone “trying this for the first time” actually attempt to set up this type of remote access on a production network.

I read it as though the OP wanted to control the SQ from the other side of the world via the internet …

I can do this with our heating system at Church…

Hence why I was querying why the OP wanted to do this…
