Hello,

I have the same situation here.

I tried to update via USB key and via the editor.

The first time, only the touchscreen was updated. It failed when trying to update the MixRack.

So I downgraded the touchscreen to get my system back. It worked.

The second time, it didn’t updated anything. A message showed up stating that the “Update failed!”

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks !

Hi Ciprian & Nethanel,

It’s probably worth contacting A&H Support, I’m sure they’ll be able to help you out with the firmware update problems your having.

Here’s a link to their support page:

I have no problems with my iDR48 and T112.

Got the same problem on iDR-48 - Currently on 1.83 - tried upgrade and downgrade from USB and from Editor without success and the same error as in the screen shot shown in Nethanel’s post above. Surface upgrades and downgrades OK. Anyone found a solution?

Cheers,

Mike

No probs with idr 48 and t112. Make sure that files on usb are on the root, not in any named subdir. Format usb. Asure no download issues. Extract on root of the stick. … as said-no issues here…works perfect.

Hi Musikhof,

Formatted USB stick

Fresh download from A&H

Extracted Firmware Dir

Copied Firmware Dir to the USB root

All Sub Dirs and Files copied across ok

Checked well over 100meg free on stick

Inserted USB stick into Surface (T80)

Surface sees v1.9 on the USB stick

Tried upgrade from Surface

Got similar error - “Update of Unit IDR48 V1.83 Failed”

I’ll give A&H a call tomorrow.

Cheers,

Mike

Have you tried using the Network ports as the link between surface and rack as opposed to ACE?

IDR48 - T112 - Dante card

Hi pealsound

Yep - tried using network port just in case it was ACE interfering with tranfering file to IDR48. Same result unfortunately, but thanks for the suggestion.

Same problem with Idr64 en T80.

only my touchsceen update’s

tried factory reset the console and rack, but no result.

Tried other usb stick, ace cable and tried to update the rack with a computer, all without result.

Error Idr64 can’t update.

If someone already has a fix, please let me know.

Regards Berry

I have updated my IDR-48 V1.83 to 1.9 with my notebook using editor Software 1.83, no problems.

I was connected by WiFi.

After this i have updated the editor software 1.83 to 1.9, no problems, too.

Hi, I just updated my IDR48 and T112 with no problems.

Will do the same with my R72/IDR16/xDR16 next week.

Hi All,

In my particular case it seems I have an issue with the motherboard and it’s a back to A&H job for a repair.

Cheers,

Mike

Hi

My problem with the update, v.1.9 via usb, was that the surface connection completely disappeared. Could not access the console in any way, not even when I entered the surface IP address, so I downgraded to v.1.83 again.

After the downgrade, I reboot and now it works as before.

I have tried to update several times but contact with the console disappears even though it is listed as OK for the update.

Any suggestions?

Just sharing my update story for what it’s worth:

I tried updating to 1.9 via a wired network connection using the editor running on OSX SnowLeopard and I had the “Update Failed” message. It left my surface in a “waiting for files to be downloaded” state and I was a little freaked out and wasn’t sure what to do at that point.

Eventually I just rebooted the surface and mix rack and everything came back up alright in the older firmware, so I guess it didn’t really get to updating.

I was able to update from the surface USB port using a flash drive. Success!

Thanks to local dealer Paradigma Group and A&H support, my problem was solved. They changed my iDR motherboard and now I have everything updated to V1.9 (there appears to be some corruption to code in the old mainboard preventing the unit from accepting new firmware).

Everything was done very quickly.

Ciprian.

Ciprian - We’re very pleased to hear that your issue has been resolved quickly by your distributor.

We would just like to clarify that the corruption that has prevented a very small number of users updating their firmware was due to a code deployment error during manufacture - there is no risk of customers corrupting their main-board whilst performing a firmware update.

Users who do encounter this issue are able to continue running v1.83 until the unit is serviced by their distributor.

If anyone experiences any problems updating their firmware please contact your local distributor or Allen & Heath Technical Support who will be pleased to assist you with your issue.

Indeed, today I rented an R72 + iDR32(V1.83) from local dealer Paradigma Group and I did update to V1.9 without any problems.

Now we have two shows in same day, and both runs with v1.9 (T112+idr48 and R72+iDR32)

Regards

Ciprian
