idr48-T112 No Ace link

Went through an improper shutdown from a generator at a show. No Ace lights now on either the mix rack or surface. During boot up on the mix rack, I use to hear two clicks after a power on, but now that does not happen. I also have ping of host failed to the mix rack. Cannot connect laptop or iPad either. Any suggestions? I’m wondering if a power surge occurred. Thank you.

Connect to the mixrack with a computer running ilive editor and see if you can connect and if not view the logs of the boot.

There are a few possibilities, including a possible service bulletin for older units that would be non-recoverable, but get some more info and go from there.

Note that youre computers wired network will need an IP such as 192.168.1.99 if youre using the default mix rack IP of 1.1

Cannot connect to the mix rack with either my laptop or iPad. I also did a hard reset network connections and that did not work either. It has to be something on the main board.

So you cant get logs even from it when you try to connect?

Ping of host 192.168.1.1 failed, first photo.

No Ace lights at either the mixrack or console.

But you get a network light on the port youre connected to?

That ping is over the ACE connection, connecting with a laptop bypasses that

Ive yet to see a main board completely dead, Id almost suspect power supply if thats the case. Do you get a power or mixrack lock light?

I do get a network light on the ethernet ports of the mixrack when connecting my laptop. When I open up editor I do not get the display in the field for idr mix rack. On the laptop it shows failed to connect. I do get a network light on my access point for that port as well. Mixpad will not connect to the idr either.

There are no lights on the ace connections port for the mix rack and the surface when using my shielded cat5e. Surface lock is not lit.

The blue power lit is lit. Normally I hear two clicks after hitting the power switch from the mix rack now I do not hear that at all.

Ok if you reset the mixrack you should be able to attempt a connection to 192.168.1.1 amd when it fails look at logs in editor.

If you get that far, based on symptoms, its likely you have a failed main DSP. If you dont, I would suspect power supply.

The good news is used units are going relatively cheap these days and for the money if you have a working surface you can be back up and running easily.

Be sure to change your cr2032 in the Touchscreen sbc and replave the Varta v80 battery in the mixrack and surface (they leak which causes issues when theyre 10 years old+)

I changed the 2032 battery on the surface already. I thought the Varta was just in the mixrack. The fan and the blue light is running when I turn it on, so the power supply should still be okay. Thanks for your help.

Theres a Varta in the surface, AFAIK it only keeps the RTC clock set, but the bigger issue is it leaks after time. You can remove it by carefully cutting it from the PCB with just the back panel open on the T80/112 if you arent concerned with the clock being wrong.
