Integration of Eclipse Audio / Smaart Data Modeler Support for AHM Series

I would like to request a feature to integrate Allen & Heath’s AHM-series processors with Eclipse Audio and Rational Acoustics’ Smaart® Data Modeler. This would significantly improve the system-design and tuning workflow for installations that use both A&H hardware and Eclipse/Smaart tools.

What is Eclipse Audio / Smaart Data Modeler:

  • Eclipse Audio is a well-known DSP design software company offering powerful tools for developing FIR and IIR filters for loudspeakers and audio systems.

  • Through a licensing partnership with Rational Acoustics, Eclipse supports Smaart® Data Modeler, a system-alignment tool that allows designing IIR filters (no FIR) based on measurement data from Smaart v7 or newer.

  • In Smaart Data Modeler, users can apply level, EQ, polarity, and delay adjustments, preview summed responses, and once satisfied, export DSP settings (IIR filters, gain, polarity, delay) in a standard format called LPIF(Loudspeaker Processor Interchange Format), which is JSON-based.

  • Eclipse’s FIR Designer tools also support “branded IIR” emulations so that filter behavior matches specific DSP platforms, and these branded modes are available in Smaart Data Modeler as well.

  • The LPIF format is designed for exactly this kind of cross-device interoperability: control software or DSP hardware can import LPIF data over a network or via a file.

Proposed Features:

  1. LPIF Import Support in AHM System / Manager Software

    • Allow the AHM System Manager (or A&H Control / Custom Control) to import LPIF files generated by Smaart Data Modeler.

    • This would make it possible to apply the exact filter settings, delay, gain, and polarity designed in Smaart Data Modeler directly into the AHM DSP.

  2. Branded IIR Filter Emulations

    • Collaborate with Eclipse Audio to define an “Allen & Heath AHM” IIR filter mode (if not already supported), so that Smaart Data Modeler can emulate AHM’s filter topology correctly when designing IIR EQ.

    • This ensures that what is modeled in Smaart/Data Modeler closely matches what AHM hardware will actually do.
