Intermittent noise on outputs (L worse than R) — Qu-16, persists after hard reset

Hi all,

I’m having an intermittent noise issue on my Qu-16. The noise only appears on the outputs (not tied to any specific input) and comes and goes sporadically — it’s not constant. It’s noticeably louder on the L output than on R.

Troubleshooting done so far:

  • Updated firmware from V1.95 to the latest V1.99
  • Performed a full hard reset (Reset + Setup keys on power up)
  • The noise still occurs after both of these steps

This suggests it’s not a settings/firmware issue at this point. Has anyone experienced something similar that turned out to be a hardware fault (PSU or DSP)?

To potentially narrow down the error:
What happens if you swap the connectors at the two outputs?
If now the connected right-hand speaker has louder hiss, it is very likely a hardware defect in the console.
However, if your connected left-hand speaker still has louder hiss, the problem is not originating from the console, but rather further along the signal chain.
