iOS app 1.6.0 update with SQ running 1.5.11

We are running a SQ7 (FOH board) and a SQ5 (monitor board) both running 1.5.11. We’re a church so our volunteer worship team members connect to the SQ5 with their personal devices to mix their IEMs.
Last night 2 of 5 of these personal devices had already updated to the new SQ4You 1.6.0 app and got the error message “Failed to connect: This app version does not match the SQ firmware you are running”. Throughout the weekend, we’ll have over a dozen devices that connect to either of the consoles to using both SQ4You and SQ MixPad.
My understanding is, if I upgrade the consoles to 1.6.0 firmware, any device running versions 1.5.x of SQ4You or SQ MixPad will not be able to connect. Is this correct?
If so, I’ve got some old iPads that work great for this stuff that will not update to version 1.6.0 of the apps and I know some of our volunteer’s personal devices will not upgrade either. What options do I have to make sure everyone who needs to connect this weekend, can connect?

Basically, you are stuck! As you cannot go back on iOS updates devices, you will have some people unable to use their pads. This is why I have always made sure no one updates any apps they use for control without checking. It is their issue for being too hasty.

Yep,

1.5.x only works with 1.5.x and 1.6.x only works with 1.6.x.

With the A&H equipment you need to ensure you have a robust upgrade ‘plan’ so you don’t get snookered!

This is especially true if they are personal devices and not Church equipment.

Another issue with the A&H apps is that there doesn’t appear to be a ‘downgrade’ option…

No idea if the following thoughts could be a little helpful.
If I were you, I would first inform everyone that they have to deactivate their automatic updates - preferably forever.

If 1.6. and problems with old iPads:
Let the more than 12 people help each other by making their more modern tablets available to others.
There are also usable devices outside of iWorld, e.g. Android tablets, which are much cheaper.
In a pinch, mobile phones might work instead of tablets.
And maybe using MixingStation instead of MixPad might also be an option.

I would have preferred to wait a little longer to update to let the dust settle but after speaking with a support rep, we went ahead and upgraded to 1.6.0. I’ve updated firmware before on these consoles, always using a Mac to load the firmware on the USB drive. The console would never recognize the firmware being available until I used a Windows machine to load the firmware on the USB drive. (And if you are wondering, yes I followed the firmware update instructions in order completely to reformat drive, the firmware file was on the root not in a folder, I emptied trash while the drive was still connected to the Mac, etc.)
Once the consoles recognized the firmware, update went smooth with no issues.
Just a note for everyone using SQ4You app out there, every user using this had to go in and reselect their mix in the “Mix Select”. Individual channels each said “No Mix Selected”. They usually don’t have to go in a reselect which mix they’re selecting. Super simple fix just thought I’d share that incase anyone else experiences this.
