IP8 controller to SQ

Dear A&H Folks,
Is there a plan to offer IP8 support on the SQ Series?
Why is this still not implemented?

Thanks for the 1.5 Firmware - works very well!!

Why is this still not implemented?

because it’s made for a different platform

Hi Steffen,

thank you for the very informative answer! I thought it was made for the SQ…

Is there a plan to offer IP8 support on the SQ Series?

Yours,
dd

Hi dd,

As Steffen says, the IP range of controllers was initially designed for dLive, which (control-wise) is a very different system from SQ.
One of the great things with our IP controllers and expanders, is that their firmware is stored in the firmware of the console, so you never have to worry about firmware mismatches, due to auto-matching and updating on connection.
I say this because it might be possible to get the IP controllers to work with the SQ range, but requires a complete rebuilding of their firmware first, alongside a large amount of work in the SQ.
i.e. It’s not just a couple of lines of code to enable it, and could take a good 6 months+ to develop and fully test.
Therefore, as the demand for support of IP controllers with SQ has been relatively low, it’s not something we have plans to implement anytime soon.

Cheers,
Keith.

Hi Keith,

Thank you for the profound answer.
With this Background i can easily understand why it’s not implemented.
becouse when i’ve a look at commercial Faderwings - it can ba so hard to get a working connection.

I can understand your intention behind the firmware match.

nothing the less it would be fine to have IP working with the SQ Series.
I think A&H would also be happy to sell the IP8 to SQ Users - that’s your Job

Meanwhile we have to do an workaround to get an Fader expansion.

Thank you!
