I have a CQ18T and I see the option to assign either PEQ+FBA or a GEQ to the main L/R outputs but is there a way to separate this between Left and Right? For example, say I want to HPF the Left channel but send a full range signal to the Right channel. Can I do this?
I know I can use an external inline XLR HPF but this just adds an additional expense and another adapter to carry so I’m wondering if there is a way to do this within the mixer itself.
I firmly believe that’s not possible.
The Main LR is a fixed stereo channel, and you can’t edit the processing of the two channels separately - but that’s not a limitation of just the CQ.
I was afraid of that. Another way this could be accomplished would be if you could route the Main mix to one of the Aux sends, then on that aux channel you configure your PEQ however you want it. Send the main to the speaker(s) you want to have the full range, then the Aux to the speakers you want to high pass.
But if I remember right, I could have sworn there was a recent thread where this was discussed and it was explained that the hardware cannot do this. I could be wrong though. But either way, I know the CQ doesn’t have that ability right now.
This isn’t critical for me so not a huge deal but it would be nice to be able to do it if needed.
If you have a free Out mix for this, you can do it by configuring it to Post Comp and Post Fader and set in this mix all input faders (including the FX returns) to 0 dB.
This will give you a separate mono mix that follows your Main LR mix, and I think that’s what you’re looking for.
Good idea. It sounds like that could work for what I’m trying to do. I’ll give it a try next gig I need to set up like that.
