I am writing to express my genuine surprise and disappointment regarding your latest firmware update for the CQ-18T. For more than a year, I have been actively submitting detailed suggestions for improving the mixer, including illustrative images and clear technical explanations. Throughout this period, I have been optimistic that upcoming updates would address several long-standing issues that many users, myself included, have repeatedly highlighted.
However, the most recent update did not resolve these core problems, despite the anticipation it generated. The result has been a significant sense of disappointment, especially after investing considerable time and effort in providing constructive feedback aimed at supporting the development of the product.
I am sharing this message to convey an honest and sincere concern: users who contribute actively to improving the CQ-18T expect that their input is valued and that meaningful progress will follow. I hope future updates will more directly reflect the needs and challenges communicated by the community.
The July 2025 V1.2.2 firmware was only a maintenance release meant to improve or fix some functionality issues.
Maybe the next release will address what you call “core problems”.
Note also that (from forum guidelines):
The aim here is not to include every suggestion in future firmware or products, but instead to help us understand which features are most important to the community as a whole and how you would like them to be. In the hope that we can satisfy the greatest possible number of users with each release.
I think this is a common confusion with some users about firmware updates. It is common practice with software/firmware that only the more significant digits indicate major updates, minor updates are bug fixes and security updates. .
The next functional firmware update will be 1.3.0 unless I have missed the A&H reasoning. So expecting a lot from the change from 1.2.1 to 1.2.2 is to miss the point.
A&B have recently been launching the new Qu mixers and updating firmware on other mixers in the range. I am sure that V 1.3.0 is being worked on but how close it is, we will not know until A&H are happy with it.
Thankfully Allen and Heath seem to go through a proper testing regime with firmware and software.
