Hello everyone. Since some kind of noise reduction wasn’t included in the 1.6 update, I’m forced to explore the possibilities of using my Cedar DNS3000 on a handful of upcoming gigs. One problem is the DNS3000 is only aes in & out, with the 2nd problem being no local aes inputs on the SQ. Have any of you found a quality and moderately priced local aes input option for SQ?
If youre already Dante the AES AVIO is reasonable
Thank you, Chris… That’s definitely looking like the top contender… Although I haven’t bought the Dante card for my SQ as of yet.
It would make a LOT of sense for A&H to make and AES3 16X16 I/O card for the SQ. (And Avantis)
There is still a LOT of AES3 gear out there and we don’t always need to go through 1,000 format converters to get from AES3 to something that we can get into a console.
The cost of going AES to Dante and into the SQ ia as much as the SQ cost to buy. That is a bit silly. Even at the low end, Behringer / Midas do DL units with AES and Analogue, so getting AES into am X32 is simple, not so with SQ.
It wouldn’t take much to make an expansion card with two “Yamaha format” Sub-D 25 connectors and put 16 AES3 I/O on them. I’m sure there is still need for them.
It is very annoying on things like DJ gigs when the Pioneer V10 and A9 have digital I/O and we end up having to go analogue for lack of a simple AES3 input.
An AES input is a really important addition to the SQ. If I didn’t have a Dante card and an Avio AES already, I’d be pissed that I couldn’t plug in, let’s say, a Bricasti reverb without DtoA converters. Please?
