Local Input stopped working for audio from laptop

This seems like such a simple problem, but I’ve reached my frustration point trying to figure it out. Our church uses the Qu16 every Sunday. We play pre and post service music from a laptop, using an xlr input from the headphone jack of the laptop as a local input on channel 15 of the board. We’ve been doing this for years with no issue, but suddenly, with nothing else being changed, it seems that the channel is not receiving the audio. I’ve replaced the cable, verified the input is still set to local and not d-snake, verified that the headphone jack is still good, but I cannot for the life of me figure out why I can no longer get a signal.

Do you see any on the channel if you PFL channel 15?

Are you using a 3.5 trs (stereo) to either a 1/4 inch TRS plug or a XLR connector
with either of those being wired straight through?
If so you most likely are having a phase cancellation issue from the stereo source
feeding a balanced input.

Why it was working and not now? Did something change?

Are you certain the laptop is outputting anything ? What if you plug your headphones straight into the output of the laptop ?

I have also tried plugging a microphone into that channel and gotten nothing. If I switch the input to d-snake and plug into that channel on the snake, I get signal. I also tried other channels as local inputs and get no signal, so it seems like something is causing the local inputs to receive no signal. And yes, I have verified that there is output from the laptop.

Well, that’s unfortunate. Work around it or time for the doctor I guess…

Good luck with it !

A couple last things to try would be a mixer hard reset, hold down the reset and set up buttons while powering on the mixer and also a firmware re load.
