Lock Screen Option

Would be nice for CQ18t screen and also MixPad.

-thxs!

Pardon? Please explain.

Just thinking it would be advantageous to have an option that would lock a screen on the CQ or ipad to prevent accidental changes, inadvertent touches, cleaning, drying if it gets moisture on the screen, etc… Not necessarily a password protected field, but just a button to tap (like a mute button - but global) that freezes all states and keeps everything operational in that state while locked. Tap it again and it unfreezes a lock and allows normal functionality and changes. This may not be a feature others see as desirable but thinking out loud as I work with my CQ18t and ipad. As a guitar player it is interesting with callouss on my finger tips how different quality touch screens respond. I also note if my fingers may be slightly moist, picking up a drink that sweats etc… I have to be mindful of my effort to mix/adjust on glass. Whether its a phone or something else… sometimes I want to clean the glass to create a smudge free surface to help keep things pure and clean. Hope this helps, just a thinking out loud as I chewed on this myself. Thanks! Hope that makes sense…

I think the ‘freeze track states’ would be useful on the main fader page for things like cleaning and preventing accidental changes to the mix.

However, I think this can be taken a step further with a ‘Lock mixer’ function. This would be on the main page and would require a password to unlock. Before locking, the user can be asked if they want the mix to be muted or remain as it is.

I really like your idea of freeing track states without muting them, I hope they implement it in an update.

Best,

I love that A&H added the “Lock Screen” feature.

But I really ask myself, why not with a password? I mean, yeah, is it really always useful? Maybe sometimes I just want to save myself from accidental changes.
But in my opinion, why not add the possibility of setting a password? Just as an optional setting. So if you don’t set a password, you can unlock it without a further click. Like it is right now.
However, if you set a password, then you need to enter it before unlocking.

For example, sometimes I am at small events where the mixer is not always within my sight. And if there are some people who think it is funny to press some buttons, then a password would be very handy.

So I would really appreciate it if they could add a password feature to the lock screen.

Very good input, +1 from me.
Other brand uses multiple key press action.

+1 Please add password option to the current lock screen feature.

It’s indeed nice that a lock screen has been included in this firmware update.

A pin code (4 to 6 digits) is indeed desirable. It only takes 1 ‘crazy’ person to press unlock and then throw away all the settings. You don’t want that, of course.

So for me, and many others, a pin code will be a nice option in the new firmware update.

@SQuser Thank you very much for the above reply, perhaps I should have quoted that my comments related to the CQ series which has the has the latest releases. I got the information after searching through the Allen and Heath manuals and this chat thread.

I would love to be corrected if I have this wrong. Would love it if the CQ also had the same security ‘options’ as the SQ. Was thinking about getting the CQ-18T but are being forced to go for the CQ0-20B just that it has not buttons and can not do anything unless you have the app and a network connection. So this I think would be a bit more secure desk.

Hi guys & Girls so the lock screen. my thoughts . its a great idea to have a deterrent on screen but anyone can unlock this option very easily can this have a 4 pin code option added to the CQ model for better security?

I think a well implemented lock function that still allows level control would make this mixer useful in install situations.
For permanent installs in small-medium rooms without trained operators a lock function with a passcode is essential.
The only other mixer I know of with a proper lock function that works in this way is the DM3, It can be locked to only allow fader and mute control of the custom layers. This is perfect for an install where a tech sets up the processing when the system is commissioned and the operators can only control mutes and levels of a subset of channels.
The CQ12t especially would be very competitive in this market, when you only need a few inputs, and is half the price. I’m designing an install now where the DM3 is the best option but the CQ12t would be a better and cheaper option if only it had a lock function that allows level control.

(Yes I am aware that the “correct” solution here is rack mount install DSP like Q-SYS, Biamp, BSS London etc but they are equal or more expensive than a DM3 and you still need some sort of control interface.)

This is a real thing: During the break of our latest gig, some children turned all knobs of our analog mixer. And there you go, carefully sound checked up front, all down the drain.

Could happen with CQ too. I now save the show on a USB stick and take it with me and reload it after the break. A pin code lock would be much easier!
