I just had a live-situation where i needed to leave the foh-place and wanted to lock the surface. But the Entering of the password is sometimes very difficult. I think it would be nice to login via a usb-stick.
As long as the usb-stick is plugged in, the surface should be unlocked. And if you pull out the stick, the surface should lock itself.
And what would you do if some drunk people break the USB Stick or if the USB-Stick is stolen by some idiot?? Your surface is locked during the whole event??
That should be just an alternative to the normal password login. Of course there are more than one user and the login should be with usb stick or password. Login via usb is even faster than doing it by normal entry.
so there are so small sticks that could not break, you don’t need to take a long usb stick, just a small one.
Forgetting passwords and losing uzsb-sticks is the same for me.
Actually I quite like that idea. Logging in and typing a password accurately are quite beyond some of our more technically challenged volunteers. As soon as they mistype a password, which they (and I, if I am honest) almost always do, since it is actually very hard to type accurately on the touch screen, they panic and decide it is all too complicated. Even pressing the appropriate processor button and tab to get to the users screen in order to login as a user without a password is pretty daunting for some.
So being able to give them a stick and say, plug this in and you will be logged in as the right user, and all set up for this service type, would actually Be quite neat.
Now I hear you say, if they can’t even do this, how can they operate the board once logged in? Fair point, but there are some who are happy to ride faders for a simple speech only service, just as they did with the old analogue board, but don’t like this new tangled digital stuff.
I wouldn’t have it instead of typed login, but as an adjunct it would be handy. I’m not holding my breath though

I ment with the difficult of the entering the things you saied. So the touchscreen and the password with failures by the entering. It’s NOT a user problem, that the user don’t no how to do this.
A usb-stick is in my opppenion one way to make it faster to lock and unlock the surface. If there are any other solutions for the problem, it’s ok for me, of course. The usb-stick is just one suggestion i know from some pc-systems (like software dongels etc.). My problem is just that the entering of the password on the touchscreen takes to much time - even when you often need to lock the surface. In some bigger locations thats no problem because the FOH-place is seperated from the people. But i have often situations where thats not.
a shortcut or a spezial key combination would help here
