Hello,
last week I read this article (in Russian), describing issues with dLive Dante card sample rate conversion: Тест SRC Dante-карты dLive'а, ч.2 – Telegraph and today I wanted to check my SQ5. I am using M-SQ-Dante-64-V3
The setup: the console is generating pink noise to Aux1, Aux1 is patched to local output socket 11, that goes to RME Babyface input 1. At the same time Aux1 is patched to I/O port output 1, so it goes out via Dante. Then it’s routed back into console – in Dante Controller, console Dante output 1 is patched into console Dante input 1.
Dante input 1 is set as Aux2 source and it is patched to local output socket 12 that goes to RME Babyface input 2.
Case A: in Dante Controller console Dante card is set to 96 kHz SR. After input delay is adjusted OpenSoundMeter is displaying a beautiful transfer function:
Case B: in Dante Controller console Dante card is set to 48 kHz SR. After input delay is adjusted OpenSoundMeter is displaying a much stranger output function and significant phase shift:
I do believe my test method is sound (pun not intended) because without Dante card SRC I am measuring textbook-perfect transfer function. Only when Dante card SRC is enabled I can measure the strange transfer function and phase shift.
I guess the same (or at least similar) problem is described in this thread: DT168 issue when used at 48kHz
Dear Allen&Heath, this looks bad and sounds bad. Please fix it.
