MIDI Control App - Auto Reconnect?

Hi!

I hope this is the right place to post this, as it doesn’t pertain to any specific hardware.

I’m currently running the A&H MIDI Control app on a Windows 11 machine to send MIDI commands to our lighting software from an Avantis Solo Ultra over the network. It works great, and the main purpose of this is so that volunteers in our building can have simple house lighting control via our Custom Control tablet app (I love CC).

Like I say, it works great - with one exception. Every time the console gets shutdown, or the lighting computer gets put to sleep, and then subsequently powered back up, the MIDI Control application doesn’t make any attempt to automatically reconnect. We have to manually maximise the app on the computer, and uncheck and re-check the “Connect” box before it’ll work again.

On the one hand it’s not a big deal, but it’s preventing our volunteers who just want to use the tablet from having lighting control without myself intervening every time. The app even has a setting for starting with Windows, which it does, but this is useless unless it attempts to automatically reconnect. It’s the only hiccup in what would otherwise be a really smooth system.

Is there any chance this feature could be added in an update? We literally just need it to regularly poll for a live connection, and if there isn’t one, attempt to reconnect. It’d be an amazing quality-of-life improvement!

If you send the MIDI from the Avantis, there is no need for A&H MIDI Control. Can you give more details? Maybe we can provide a workaround or a more reliable solution.

Yes, can you give us a concrete example of what you are doing. As stated previously, there may be a more direct route of achieving the same effect.
