Midi control Harrison Live trax

Hello .

I am trying to connect Harrison Live trax with Midi controleur( V2.2)

I can not connect my Avantis (V1.35) with Midi Controler to my computer.

My Dante card is : bridge on ( switch back of the card), and visible in Dante controler, cat6 laptop to the primary port (my card get 3 xRJ45 ports)no other cat6 plug .

Audio is working with Dante and Harrison Live trax

About the midi controler, Mixer tab is on Avantis ,protocole is on Midi thru and
Midi controler can see the name of my mixer and loaded in the Custom tab ( my Ip adress is the same as the Avantis ).

wifi and firewall out.

I am on static mode for lthe Avantis and laptop, i can see my laptop and mixer in Dante controler

When i request the connexion it say not connected.

Someone could let me know if i forget or i ve done a mistake with my set up .

Thank you.

Xavier

I dont know what “My Dante card is : bridge on ( switch back of the card)” does, but i think nothing midi stuff…

”i can see my laptop and mixer in Dante controler”… maybe you see your laptop in the Dante network as a DVS, and your Avantis as an I/O device, so neither is a “Control” connection, only media.

I think Avantis Director and Midi Control softwares want your desk througt its Network port.
So…If you have only 1 port on laptop, i think your choices are:

  • Wifi: yes, why not? maybe a little ping you have, Connect the Avantis Network Port to your main router, and if you do the config right, you can connect with aplications to it.
  • USB-Ethernet dongle. I think u know hot its working.
  • Dante Network. Put that Avantis Network port in to your Dante network, configure it well, and it can work beside each other.

I dont have Dante card/network , i have Waves, and Waves not uses TCP/IP v4…so, theoretically they can fit side by side without any special configuration (I saw a video where the man connected the Avantis Network port directly to the Waves card, and he had Contorl and Soundgrid in one network), but Dante uses TCP/IP v4 so it needs to be configured well(except if your Dante network is a very simple unicast with only Avantis ↔ Laptop direct connection).

The “bridge” switch on the Dante card will “tie” into (bridge) the Dante network with the regular network ports on the console when in “bridge” mode. If bridge mode is turned off, then the Dante network and console network will not be connected at the console level).

Prior to having this switch, you literally had to run a jumper cable from the Dante card to one of the console’s network ports if you wanted to tie the two networks together at the console level.

Personally I always like to run my Dante networks as independent networks and not bridge them to the console’s network, but that is just personal preference. There are certainly times/situations where tying the two networks together is the better option.

But you are correct that bridging the two networks together shouldn’t affect the MIDI data unless the network addresses of devices on the “Dante network” and the “console’s network” are assigned IP addresses in different network subnets and by bridging the two networks together you are causing some underlying network instability.

Hello Brian , thanks for your advice .
Agree with you, but with those Dante Cards the primary port becomes the control port when you use only one port, i wanted to see how it is working . But i agree with you , better way to run my Dante networks as independent networks .
Another thing, I would like to go further with Harrison Live Tracks and buy Harrison Mixbus11
I would like to use Avantis Mixer deeper than scene changes and transport with Live traks2 . Do you know if I can connect the Avantis as a mixer to drive Mixbus11, and not only with my laptop ?
Thanks
