I have yet to see how to mix monitors using the SQ-rack by itself. Is that done ONLY with a pad?

After all, a touchscreen is built in that offers you special SQ-Rack screens in addition to the standard SQ screens - e.g. the “Faders” screen and the “Select Mix” pop-up (see image).
You can find further information on this in your Reference Guide on pages 14–18.
Obviously, I’m not the most tech oriented guy out here. I certainly ASSUMED it would be like that, but I couldn’t find THAT screen. Probably hard to find…like my nose.

Aren’t YOU Mr Helpful?! What I like about A&H, as opposed to other makes, is their stuff is usually intuitively obvious. Knowing to hit THAT had to come from the manual? Which this is a screen shot? Which saved me 20 minutes of search.
Next gig isn’t until Friday, but will definitely check this out!

I don’t have an SQ-Rack, so I can’t try it out.
Did you actually do this from the Faders screen, where it makes sense?
At least in Keith’s video, it looks like he only has to press it once.
Try out whether your double-click might be a feature to get to the screen Faders + Mix Select popo-up even faster from any other menu.
But here’s another tip that might be interesting for you:
You can also program free soft keys to select a specific mix (pages 88-89).
This way, you could select your most important monitor or FX mixes without the pop-up.
Since you were a help before…I’m back. I’m an old guy, struggling w digital. I’d like to record to USB on my SQ-5. All the videos go thru about 19 steps in 18 seconds, which is a little more than I can memorize. I have gone round and round trying to find THE MANUAL, but only get sites that want me to print it. 20 pages, OK. 130? not doing it. Several times, I have seen people posting a link to it for slow folks like myself. If you would be so kind to set me up with the page(S) that show how to record and play back, I would be most greatful and will print it off. Thank you many decibels!!!

- Record a stereo mix (such as your Main LR or a dedicated recording mix) onto a connected storage device.
- Record multiple input channels (how many?) onto a connected storage device for further processing, e.g., in a DAW.
- Record something directly using a connected computer.
I just want to record main L&R to a memory stick. I have sticks with 64GB and got it to format. For anyone else reading this–I tried a 16GB, thinking I didn’t want to “waste” a stick in my trial runs. But, the board-SQ5 didn’t even “see” it. Point being–get the right size stick!!
I thought I was recording the CD (I’m old) that I had in ST 1. The screen was “running” time remaining was going down, but when I stopped, there was nothing. I am missing some steps. I think.

This has nothing to do with those two capacity sizes.
It is quite rare for a USB drive not to be recognized at all or to be impossible to format.
The bigger issue is having sufficient write speed (which is usually not listed in the specifications) for an USB 2.0 interface.
However, since you only want to record two channels, there is a good chance your drive will handle it - though there is no guarantee.
By default, the Main LR mix is recorded.
But did the level meters (1. in the image) move in time with your CD signals during your recording attempts?
How did you determine this?
Did you plug the USB drive into a PC after recording and find that its directory “AHSQ\USBREC” was empty?
There is a buffer indicator on the display (2. in the image); ideally, the meter shouldn’t show activity here during recording.
There is also an error counter (3. in the image).
Keep an eye on this to see if any errors appear during or after a test run.
If they do, the drive is unsuitable.
Figured it out? ha. Formatting and getting meters to move is as far as I got.
When I tried to play back , which I expected to see on the USB input, there was nothing. The recording time went to zero-which maybe is a new starting point, and not what was done?
I didnot put the stick into a computer, as I wouldn’t know what to do with it.
There was nothing in the error field.
I’m sorry to be so thick on this. I appreciate you trying. I will try to find someone who can supply a step by step recipe for me to follow.

Again, thank you, SQuser, for trying. I finally threw my hands in the air and picked a site that I hoped wasn’t a source of virus and printed off the pages that I need. Only to discover that, like most manuals these days, the writer assumes the reader knows all about what the text is putting out…all the terms and methods. NOPE!

I’m really sorry, but that’s just how things are these days.
A mixing console like that is a fairly complex piece of equipment that requires a rather specific understanding of the subject matter and terminology.
And yes, you should have been able to hear your recorded audio via the USB channel by default, but who knows …
I can really only recommend hiring a professional to teach you the essential basics and set up a basic configuration tailored to your needs and preferences.
