MP4 audio from laptop to the CQ-18T's USB-B interface to output to the mains?

Can you play audio from an MP4 file on a laptop and input it into the CQ-18T’s USB-B 2.0 interface to output to the mains? I would like to send the video to a projector and the audio to the CQ-18T’s USB-B 2.0 interface.

Hi there,

Yes - absolutely. The CQ-18T has a dedicated USB return channel that you can select in Windows. Alternatively, you can use ASIO on Windows for multitrack, depending on your application.

On MacOS the CQ-18T is Core Audio compliant, so in general playback will come back through the USB return channel too, although you can change this in the Audio MIDI setup screen on your Mac.

MarkF, thanks for the response. I am receiving my CQ-18T tomorrow and look forward to trying this out.

Mark,

I received my cq18t yesterday and really like the interface.

I was able to play the audio via the USB on my windows 11 laptop via the USB-B interface but something I noticed and wondering if there is a solution to this is that there was not a trim tool on the USB input like there is on the Stereo inputs (ch 17-18). Am I missing something or is there another way to trim the input level on the USB-B interface other than adjusting the level on my windows 11 output? I should clarify that I am using the stereo playback function which plays to the dedicated USB channel for stereo playback on the cq18t. Maybe this is due to the fact that this is a digital input vs analog so no preamp involved.

Hi willmaker,

Sorry for the delayed reply there. (The best way to reach us with burning questions is to email the support desk or open a ticket!)

If you select your USB channel and go to Processing, there should be a trim available. The only reason this might not be visible is if you’re using the USB as a quick channel - hit the menu button (three lines and a downward facing triangle in the top right corner) and press Convert with the USB channel selected. This will make it a full channel, and give you access to the preamp section.

Mark,

Thanks so much, that was exactly it. You have been a great help.
